Melissa NutritionistAs a teenage athlete growing up in Northern California, I developed an interest in health and fitness as I experienced the connection between my eating habits and athletic performance. I received my degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Fitness & Wellness Management from Brigham Young University in 2004.

Following graduation I continued working in healthcare in a variety of ways. I developed an after school program for elementary age children that focused on physical activity and healthy eating for kids; educating parents, teachers and pediatricians about the importance of proper nutrition and daily exercise. I also worked in the nursing home and home healthcare settings. In addition I worked as a youth counselor with at-risk youth dealing with addiction and substance abuse.

In 2010 I was diagnosed with “fibromyalgia” after dealing with headaches, fatigue, brain fog and multiple surgeries to address everything from ruptured ovarian cysts to a tumor in my eye socket. After two years of failed conventional therapies and my health deteriorating I had had enough. I started working with holistic doctors and reaching out to friends and family for support. I decided it was time for a change, and that I needed to be more proactive with my health and my life.

For the next several years I refined the practice of healthy living at home, in the kitchen, and within my local community as I raised my two children to be health conscious and active. I pursued further education in holistic health, became a certified nutritionist and subsequently started my own wellness consulting business in 2014. In every meal plan and program I develop, I draw from my clinical experience, education and personal health journey.

As a part of a complete team of licensed healthcare professionals I am able to incorporate a wide range of diagnostic information into your customized nutrition program so that it is both life-tested and medically effective.
